The character Sheldon in one episode of The Big Bang Theory said “Geology isn't a real science.” What did he mean by that? Historical geology paints a picture of what happened during the vast eons of Deep Time.
There was supposedly an Age of Trilobites and an Age of
Dinosaurs. But we did not learn about
these by direct observation - the TimeTunnel has not yet been invented.
Basic chemistry experiments are repeated every day, but we can't
recreate the Grand Canyon in the lab.
Does the Geologic Column really tell us the story of the
transformation of life from simple to complex through time? Or, does it primarily give us the record of a
significant environmental failure that destroyed the Earth just thousands of
years ago? Learn more by clicking here to hear our engaging podcast.
Many claim that the fossil record shows an order in the
life forms that supports Darwinism, but you'll see in our podcast that this is not the case. We
propose that most of the sediments in the rock record are part of one
catastrophic episode – a Singular Epoch of Rapid Geologic Activity (SERGA). You can learn more about this in chapter five
of our book YES - Young Earth Science.
The Cambrian Explosion refers to the sudden appearance of
multiple phyla in the fossil record with no prior ancestors that have been
found. There is a Great Unconformity at
the Pre-Cambrian/Cambrian boundary which points to a global catastrophe. Evolution predicts a gradual increase in the
number of phyla such as arthropods, chordates and brachiopods. The Cambrian Explosion contradicts this.
