No, we don't have two thousand episodes yet ... we named this episode 2024 in honor of the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse (TSE). This reminds us of the fantastic film (and book), The Privileged Planet. What are the odds that the apparent size of the Moon and the apparent size of the Sun, exactly match?! Things that make you go "hmmm ..."
Oh, BTW, we are joined today by my good friend Dr. Joseph Young (☺☺). Let me tell you, he's Mighty smart! The TSE will pass the SE corner of Oklahoma. If you plan to see the Total Solar Eclipse, I would recommend staying in Paris, Texas which has a 65' replica of the Eiffel Tower with a red cowboy hat atop, or Hugo, OK which I've been to numerous times or beautiful Hochatown in Eastern OK where we stayed at a wonderful resort a couple years ago - I got a "Vote for Squatch" shirt. Hold the phones folks ... I do get my kicks on Route 66 - I drive on it every week.

So, what is Biological Essentialism? It's the view that bats are bats, cats are cats and you're weird Uncle Freddy is not related to Professor Young. Biological essentialism holds that there exists Essential Types of Life (ETL's) such as bears and penguins - these are distinct kinds of organisms that do not have a common ancestor. Thus, organic variation has limits. For example, Bison-Yak-Gayal (cattle) have hybrids between them. So, they are part of the same ETL: "Go BYG, or go home!"
The Citris Triangle exhibits hybrids between pomelos (the "sweet grapefruit"), mandarins (or "tiny oranges") and citrons. Thus, they are part of the same ETL. I just love pomelos! Hybrids do have limits, just go ask your Great Great Grandfather. So, don't let Freddy marry Jumbo. Speaking of Lemons, that reminds us of Herbie the Love Bug, the famous VW Beatle. Dean Jones (d. 2015) starred in Herbie's stories in the 60's, 70's & 80's! Apparently, Jones favored Biological Essentialism as well as YES - Young Earth Science. He also played Chuck Colson in film about his life - Born Again. Colson worked for Nixon during the Watergate era and spent some time in prison. Colson co-authored books with Nancy Pearcey, who wrote Total Truth.
Many support Young Earth Science or YES, the idea that the Earth is thousands of years old and not billions. Maybe even your neighbor is pro-YES. Some media pundits would have you believe that the pro-YES crowd are just like those who say that the Lizard People from Planet Zemo will attack Earth within the next 129 days. Not so my friend.
In her book, Total Truth, Pearcey references the Young Earth idea.[1] She recommends the book, By Design or By Chance? by Canadian journalist Denyse O'Leary which gives a fair shake to YES.[2] Pearcey also recommends a book by A.E. Wilder-Smith who had three earned doctorates.[3] Wilder-Smith was pro YES. I highlight the famous Oxford debate on origins between Wilder-Smith and Richard Dawkins in my latest book. You may say why debate the issue? People never change their fundamental worldview ... or do they?
Consider Mary Jo Sharp, who is a former atheist. Sharp is an Apologetics Prof at Houston Baptist University and wrote Why I Still Believe. Another example is MILO who I write about in Biological Essentialism. You may have caught MILO's recent interview where he spoke of Ali Alexander, a key leader of the Stop the Steal Rally held early last year in DC. I grew up in Northern VA and have been to DC many times. I've been in the White House twice ... as a tourist, of course. I've also been in the Pentagon - my step-dad worked there.
Another interesting YES supporter is Danny Nalliah, who was born in Sri Lanka, and is the former leader of the Rise Up Australia political party. #LetsGoDarwin (the Northern Aussie town ☺). Now, how is it that the powers that be - media pundits, PBS, npr, Hollywood Elites and the National Science Foundation (NSF) fall for Old Earth Fallacies (OEF's)?
Public Education is the culprit. Is Public Education Necessary? by Samuel Blumenfeld is beyond a "must read." It tells the story of Horace Mann (d. 1859) who was the supreme hero who won the victory for Public Education. In 1840, the Massachusetts House Committee on Education produced a report challenging government tyranny over education, but with little impact.[4] Blumenfeld also put out Alpha Phonics. My wife used that book to teach our son to read and write before he started school!
Mississippi was the last state to pass a law requiring school attendance in 1917.
The current Compulsory Education Law in PA requires 8-17 year olds to be in school. Oh well, that's only ten years of brainwashing. Oklahoma Senator James Lankford has proposed SR 493 which supports school choice. When I visited Sam Storms' church, Senator Lankford was in the congregation. So, what's the solution to the deconstruction caused by "PUB ED"? Let's ask Dr. Young. His bronchitis is acting up today, so I'll have to be his spokesman.

You may be curious about my shirt. Kosuke Fukudome is an outfielder for the Chunichi Dragons, previously he played for the Cubs for four years. Speaking of dragons, it seems clear that dragon legends, ancient artwork and sculptures point to the co-existence of man and dinos in the not too distant past. This seems to contradict the Old Earth Fallacies (OEF's) of Big Science. See my prior two books for more info.
