TIME mag had an article "God vs. Science" and
in it there was a quote from Paul Bloom: "Religion and science will always
clash" (Gumbel, pp. 7,8). Bloom misrepresented & criticized Ben Carson
in the Atlantic. Bloom is a Psychology Prof at the University
of Toronto. Did Dr. Bloom separate twins
connected at the head?
Ben Carson gave the Commencement Speech @ Emory
University in 2012, how about Dr. Bloom?
I met Dr. Carson in Midland, Texas when he was running for President. Dr.
Carson has criticized Darwinism and is sympathetic to the Young Earth view. Carson on the evidence for #evo ...
It's just not there. But
when you bring that up to the proponents of Darwinism, the best explanation
they can come up with is "Well…uh…it's lost!"…I find it requires too
much faith for me to believe that explanation given all the fossils we have
found without any fossilized evidence of the direct, step-by-step evolutionary
progression from simple to complex organisms or from one species to another
species. Shrugging and saying, "Well, it was mysteriously lost, and we'll
probably never find it," doesn't seem like a particularly satisfying,
objective, or scientific response.
"Benjamin Carson: The Pediatric Neurosurgeon with
Gifted Hands" by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. (2009):

a formal complaint regarding the selection of Dr. Ben Carson as commencement
speaker.

Talk about the persecution of scientists!
Ben Carson - Emory University Commencement Address
(2012):
Writing in the Atlantic,
Paul Bloom claims that science is superior to faith:
"Religion has no equivalent record of discovering
hidden truths.
So why do so many people believe otherwise? It turns out
that while science and religion are as different as can be, folk science and
folk religion share deep properties. Most of us carry in our heads a hodgepodge
of scientific views and religious views, and they often feel the same."
"Scientific Faith Is Different From Religious Faith
- Not all beliefs are equal"
by Paul Bloom (11-24-15):
Modern
Science in the Bible by Ben Hobrink is a great resource - it was
published by Simon & Schuster!!
https://www.amazon.com/Modern-Science-Bible-Amazing-Scientific/dp/1439108927
Former evolutionist Ben Hobrink lives in the Netherlands
and works with Open Doors.
He now holds to the traditional view: Creation In Six
Days #CISD a Global Flood and a youthful
planet.
Consider the Jewish health regulations. Job said the earth hangs on nothing (Job
26:7). Heb 11:1-3 provides this insight:
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we
do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we
understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen
was not made out of what was visible."
I can't see a quark with my naked eye.
In Job 15:15, we learn that even "the heavens are not pure in his
sight." That is totally consistent
with supernovas, yet contrary to Aristotle's view!

The remedy to Brother Nicky's book is Six-Day Creation by Robert Gurney.
https://www.amazon.com/Six-day-Creation-matter-believe-Choices/dp/1846250978
This is also a short book that came from Britain. Dr. Gurney was born in Burma and received his medical training at Bristol. He's
worked in Israel, Tanzania and Kenya and was a general practitioner in
Devon. Gurney's book is PC, Pro-Creation
(Creation In Six Days, Global Flood & Young Earth). #CISD
Nicky brings up the Galileo affair (p. 8). I would argue that one can make a Biblical
case for heliocentrism:
https://adamslostdream.blogspot.com/2009/10/bible-astronomy-for-brainiacs.html
Gumbel rocks with Galileo and noted that, "... there
have certainly been periods in the history of Christianity when the church has
opposed the results of scientific study. Galileo, the seventeenth century
Italian astronomer, found himself in conflict with the Roman Catholic Church
over his discovery that planets revolve round the sun. He was tried by the
inquisition in Rome, ordered to recant and spent the final eight years of his
life under house arrest" (Gumbel,
p. 8).
I'd recommend 7 Myths by my friend Michael Keyes ...

Dr. Keas deals with Galileo as well as some cool UFO/Alien analysis.
The Galileo Myth - Michael Keas:
Galileo ~ Myth vs. Reality, with Dr. Rob Carter and Dr.
Jonathan Sarfati:
Francis Schaeffer points out that the opposition to the
Copernican theory was not based on scripture but on Aristotle’s views:
When the Roman Church
attacked Copernicus and Galileo (1564-1642), it was not because their teaching
actually contained anything contrary to the Bible. The church authorities
thought it did, but that was because Aristotelian elements had become part of church
orthodoxy, and Galileo’s notion clearly conflicted with them. In fact, Galileo
defended the compatibility of Copernicus and the Bible, and this was one of the
factors which brought about his trial.
A good synopsis of the Galileo affair may be found in
chapter ten of Dinesh D’Souza’s What’s so
Great about Christianity?
Gumbel spoke of the Scopes "Monkey" Trial,
"Persecution of scientists did not end in the seventeenth century. As late
as 1925, John T. Scopes, a high-school teacher from Drayton, Tennessee, was
prosecuted for violating the state law by teaching the theory of evolution"
(Gumbel, p. 8).
One of my earliest published papers on origins was on the Scopes Trial.
"The Scopes Trial and After" by
Jay Hall (Vol. 2, No. 2, 1979):
https://www.arn.org/orpages/orindex.htm
The Real Truth about the Scopes Trial is
found in Monkey Business by Marvin
Olasky of World Magazine. Scopes got dragged into a publicity stunt to
promote the town of Dayton. He was no
activist for Darwinism, he wound up in Venezuela with Gulf Oil.
The supposed evidence for evolution given in the trial has long been abandoned. If George McCready Price (d. 1963), who was quoted at the trial, had been able to appear the results may have been vastly different. He was the author of The New Geology (1923) which refutes Deep Time:
https://documents.adventistarchives.org/Books/NG1923.pdf
Price was teaching in England at the time of the trial (Monkey Business, pp. 126, 127).

On page 9, Nicky talks about miracles: "... it is argued that the assured results of modern science are in direct conflict with the teaching of the Bible. Some would say, for example, that modern science shows that miracles do not happen, whereas the Bible is full of miracles." Brother Nicky should look into The Case for Miracles by Lee Strobel:
https://www.amazon.com/Case-Miracles-Journalist-Investigates-Supernatural/dp/0310259185
Brother Nicky goes universal on us, "Mathematician,
physicist and astronomer Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) was the founder of modern
mechanics and experimental physics. He
argued that the earth was not the center of the universe" (Gumbel, p.
12). In the Journal of Creation, physicist Russell Humphreys wrote a paper
providing evidence that the Milky Way is near the center of the universe!
"Our galaxy is the centre of the universe, quantized
redshifts show" by D. Russell Humphreys, Journal of Creation 16(2):95–104, August 2002:
https://creation.com/our-galaxy-is-the-centre-of-the-universe-quantized-redshifts-show
Nicky quotes Richard Dawkins, "God almost certainly
does not exist" (p. 9).
Is Gumbel aware of the 1986 Oxford Union Debate between
Dawkins and creationist AE Wilder-Smith,
who had three earned doctorates? (Biological
Essentialism, pp. 219-224):
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/biological-essentialism-jay-hall/1140135320
What was the verdict?
115 (or maybe 150) votes for the Creation side and the two Darwinists
got 198 ... not exactly a wipe-out.
Nicky rightly points out that Science has a Christian
basis (pp. 9-11). God gave us the wisdom
to understand the Equations of Creation.
We read this in Jeremiah:
This is what the Lord says: "If
I have not made my covenant with day and night and established the laws of
heaven and earth, then I will reject the descendants of Jacob and David my
servant and will not choose one of his sons to rule over the descendants of
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For I will restore their fortunes and have compassion
on them." (Jer. 33:25,26)
One example of science *in* the Bible is the expanding
Cosmos:
He sits enthroned above the
circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens
like a canopy ... (Is. 40:22)
He alone stretches out the
heavens
and treads on the waves of the sea.
He is the Maker of the Bear
and Orion,
the Pleiades and the constellations of the South.
(Job 9:8,9)
See also Is. 45:12, Is. 42:5, Jer. 10:12 and Zech. 12:1.
Nicky presents Isaac Newton as an example of a believing
scientist (p. 12).
Newton held that mankind has existed for around six
thousand years:
https://creation.com/isaac-newton
Gumbel quotes Physicist turned theologian John
Polkinghorne (d. 2021), who also said, "If the deep-seated congruence of
the rationality present in our minds with the rationality present in the world
is to find a true explanation, it must surely lie in some more profound reason
which is the ground of both. Such a reason would be provided by the Rationality
of the Creator."
https://adamslostdream.blogspot.com/2011/05/michio-kaku-epic-fail.html
Nicky plugs Francis Collins (pp. 15,31). In Beverly Hills in 2006, Dr. Ben Carson was
part of a panel discussion on evolution along with Richard Dawkins, Daniel
Dennett and Francis Collins. Dr. Carson
opposed evolution. Dr. Carson received
the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008.

Amazingly, Collins has apologized for the lockdowns:

Will the miracles never cease?
On page 16, Nicky mentions David Hume (d. 1776). Hume, surprisingly gave the #YoungEarth view
a fair hearing. See my book Is a Young Earth Possible? (pp.
104,105):
