New York Times, Catastrophism, Essentialism & SERGA

In the Cambrian Explosion, most of the major types of life appear suddenly in the fossil record.  This fact is widely known, but what is often over looked is that there is a global unconformity at this point indicating a tremendous erosional event.

Writing in the New York Times a few years ago, Carl Zimmer made this comment:

It took a global flood to tap that capacity [to trigger evolution] ... Shanan Peters of the University of Wisconsin and Robert Gaines of Pomona College ... offered evidence that the Cambrian Explosion was preceded by a rise in sea level that submerged vast swaths of land, eroding the drowned rocks.

Rather than instigate rapid evolution, we propose that this global flood was the beginning of a Singular Epoch of Rapid Geologic Activity (SERGA) that explains the bulk of the Earth's vast sediments.  Cultures from around the world have traditions of this event.

How can the general order of the fossils be explained if we base our new discoveries on this assumption (SERGA)?  In a worldwide watery disaster sea life would buried first then land animals, bird tracks then birds - just as we do find.  If essential types of life remain static throughout geologic time, then the fossil sequence does not prove Darwinism, but indicates changing conditions during a great flood.  Likewise, once we accept the stasis of Essential Types of Life (ETL's), the most reasonable option is to reject evolution and the mainstream geologic timescale.
Louis Agassiz was professor of Natural History at University of Neuchâtel and is best known as the "Father of the Ice Age."  In 1874, the Atlantic Monthly posthumously published his paper on "Evolution and Permanence of Type."  Agassiz was right about Darwin:

Darwin has placed the subject [of evolution] on a different basis from that of all his predecessors, and has brought to the discussion a vast amount of well-arranged information, a convincing cogency of argument ...  Indeed it might be said that he treated his subject according to the best scientific methods, had he not frequently overstepped the boundaries of actual knowledge and allowed his imagination to supply the links which science does not furnish.

Agassiz argued that the fossil record says "NO Evolution NO!" ...

As a palaeontologist I have from the beginning stood aloof from this new theory of transmutation [evolution], now so widely admitted in the scientific world.  Its doctrines, in fact, contradict what the animal forms buried in the rocky strata of our earth tell us ...

YES Virginia, there is evidence for a global flood, a youthful planet and demonstrating the flaws of Darwinism.  Our book YES - Young Earth Science provides ample info from science and history to point to a young earth.  Please visit TotalYouth.us for the latest YES (Young Earth Science) podcast and follow us on social media and YouTube.

Kim Jong Un, Evolution & the End of the World

If you are reading this, congratulations for surviving the "end of the world" (9/23/17).  Not only did Kim Jong Un call the President a "dotard" he is threatening to destroy America.  Will these provocations lead to total nuclear war and the End Of The World (#EOTW) as we know it?  What would REM say?

Kim Jong Un's father Kim Jong-il was the Supreme Leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) from 1994 until 2011 and said this regarding evolution:

Independence is an attribute of man, the social being; it should not be viewed as the development to perfection of a natural, biological attribute of living matter.   This is, in essence, an evolutionary viewpoint.  Of course, we do not deny evolutionism itself.  Science has long established the fact that man is a product of ages of evolution.  Man is a product of evolution, but not his independence.   Independence is a social product.  Independence is an attribute given to man by society, not nature; it is not a natural gift, but has been formed and developed socially and historically.

For more on Kim Jong Il be sure to check out DearReader by Michael Malice.  If we are truly reaching the terminal point of Earth, that brings up the question of how long ago did it start.  Our book YES - Young Earth Science argues against mainstream science and billions of years and provides convincing evidence that our beautiful planet is only thousands of years old.

Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber, James Damore & YOU

James Damore, a senior software engineer who had worked at Google since  2013, posted a memo on a Google discussion board and got canned.  Damore has a master’s degree in systems biology from Harvard.  His ordeal has aroused some very lively conversations, but how many people have bothered to read the actual memo?

Does bias cloud our thinking about diversity and inclusion.  What about Young Earth Science (YES) inclusion?  Let's have diversity of views presented on the age-of-the-earth controversy!  Natural Selection anyone?

Damore says, "Psychological safety is built on mutual respect and acceptance, but unfortunately our culture of shaming and misrepresentation is disrespectful and  unaccepting of anyone outside its echo chamber."  Amen!  Please quit shaming YES advocates with the tag "flat-earther."

Damore continues, "Political orientation is actually a result of deep moral preferences and thus biases.  Considering that the overwhelming majority of the social sciences, media, and Google lean left, we should critically examine these prejudices ..."  True enough‼

If you google "biological essentialism" you will get gender topics on the first page of your results.  Damore points out that women generally exhibit a greater degree of, "Openness directed towards feelings and aesthetics rather than ideas.   Women generally also have a stronger interest in people rather than things, relative to men."  He further states that, "Women on average are more  cooperative [than men]."
Biological Essentialism also has another reference - the idea that Essential Types of Life (ETL's) are stable.  Kangaroos reproduce "Roos" and pangolins make more pangolins.  I deal with this engaging topic in chapter three of my book YES- Young Earth Science.

In the section titled "Why we're blind" Damore himself is apparently unaware of his own slant on science, "We all have biases and use motivated reasoning to dismiss ideas that run counter to our internal values.  ... some on the Right deny science that runs counter to the 'God > humans > environment' hierarchy (e.g., evolution and climate change) ..."  But what if evolution is wrong?

Damore makes a significant point, "In highly progressive environments, conservatives are a minority that feel like they need to stay in the closet to avoid open hostility.  We should empower those with different ideologies to be able to express themselves."  Tell it like it is.  This includes those who deny Darwinism.

Coal, Science Bias and Wal-Mart

Be sure to catch our latest video.  We tackle a potpourri of topics:  Thunder & C-14, Tree Rings & Ammonites,  Norman Macbeth (Darwin Retried), OMNI magazine & censorship ... #Rubio #NormanMacbeth #Darwin #AltMed #TreeRings

"I'm Just an Old Chunk of Coal (But I'm Gonna Be a Diamond Someday)" was written and originally recorded by Billy Joe Shaver, but became a big hit (#4 on the charts) when John Anderson released it.
But that raises the question, "How long does it take for coal to form?"  In the early 1980's chemists at Argonne National Laboratory created  artificial coal from naturally occurring materials.  They demonstrated that the coal formation process was much less severe than formerly thought.

E.A. Newell Arber (d. 1918) was a Professor at the University of Cambridge with a focus in paleobotany and wrote The Natural History of Coal.  Arber concluded that the close association of some coal seams with sandstones, shales and conglomerates provides "evidence of the rapid formation of coal." [1]

Many scientists have a bias against Young Earth Science (YES).  This is also common among academics and journalists.  CatherineBennett wrote a piece in the Guardian titled "The BBC’s fixation on ‘balance’ skews the truth" where she showed disrespect for the young earth viewpoint.

In contrast, Melvin Bragg (Chancellor of the University of Leeds) hosted a BBC radio program on the Age of the earth. [2]  Several comments supported YES.  There were apparently seven who favored YES and seven who agreed with the Old Earth view.  Is the BBC pro-YES?  Maybe not, but at least they gave the YES advocates an opportunity to argue their case.

I hope Catherine Bennett gets a copy of my book YES - Young Earth Science which defends a youthful world from history and science.  YES, you can even get it from Wal-Mart (online).

Earlier this month the New York Supreme Court rejected a claim by an advocacy group that two chimps held in captivity should be treated like legal persons.  The Nonhuman Rights Project sought to free the chimps from their human owners (chimps are people too).

Does your chimp own a stone toolbox with power drills and vise-grips?  Does your pet chimp use stone tools to butcher deer (or dinos)?  When did man first use stone tools?  Go ahead and guess ... ... ...

[insert Jeopardy tune ♫]

Here we see butcher marks on a 3.4M year old bone found in Dikika, Ethiopia.  Until recently, the earliest known stone tools were 2.6M years old.  That's a difference of 800K years!  We would place doubt on the dating methods and state that the butcher marks points to human action.
In our book YES -Young Earth Science we have a whole chapter showing the flaws of radiometric dating (radioactive dating, radiodating).  Be sure to visit our website early and often (TotalYouth.us).  Also, please check out our videos and podcast.

Do you feel the drift?  Is it possible for continental drift to happen much faster than most allow?  Hear our groundbreaking podcast here (iTunes users  here).  Richard Moody who has a Masters degree in Geology (SUNY - Albany) believes that plates may move fast, up to 100 times current rates (~4cm/yr.).*  We call this Rapid Plate Movements (RPM's).

Pioneer continental drift advocate Alfred Lothar Wegener (d. 1930) had a Ph.D. in Astronomy (University of Berlin) and assumed that Europe and North America were quite close to each other during the ice age.  Given the mainstream date that the ice age ended 10K years ago, that comes out to plate movements of 1,500 feet each year!  RPM indeed.

James Head  in a paper in Nature, proposes that there was a great flood on Venus and that it has experienced “rapid plate tectonics.”  Could the same RPM’s have occurred on Earth?

Charles Hapgood who wrote Maps of the Ancient Sea Kings advocated catastrophic pole shifts for the Earth.  Hapgood’s work was the basis for the disaster film 2012 directed by Roland Emmerich.  Even Stephen Jay Gould suggested that this theory deserves a fair hearing and should not be dismissed out of hand.  Can the pole shift idea be rehabilitated by combining it with plate tectonics?  Albert Einstein wrote the Foreword to Hapgood’s book on pole shift and met him in 1955.

The New Yorker in 2015 had an article on how the Cascadia plate is likely to move coastal Washington and Oregon about 100 feet in just minutes.  Seattle and Portland could be destroyed.  The likely 9.2 magnitude earthquake could be coming to the Pacific Northwest soon.  Shepard Smith (FOX) dealt with this eminent danger in an interview with Michio Kaku.

Can you move as fast as Bruce Lee?  Can you move as quick as the earth?  Richard Oldham was a British geologist who was the first to distinguish P-waves, S-waves and surface waves.  His report on the 1897 Assam earthquake described the Chedrang fault, with uplift up to 35 feet and ground movements greater than Earth's own gravitational acceleration.  Some ruptures may move as fast as 13K mph!

In the scifi film JapanSinks, the reality of Rapid Plate Movements (RPM's) was presented with great dramatic style.  It was long thought that many geologic features took a long time to form.  Now it is generally regarded that most strata were made in a rapid, catastrophic fashion, such as turbidites.  Why has the catastrophic paradigm not been applied to plate tectonics?  Go RPM's!

Fake News vs. the Kool-Aid Acid Test

               >> Fake News versus the Volcano of Truth <<
OR ... Who's Afraid of Tom Wolfe?

President Donald Trump spoke to a huge crowd in Melbourne, Florida (Feb. 18, 2017) and made this insightful declaration regarding the dominant media which occasionally gets the tag "fake news":

They have their own agenda and their agenda is not your agenda.  In fact, Thomas Jefferson said, “nothing can be believed which is seen in a newspaper.”  “Truth itself,” he said, “becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle,” that was June 14, my birthday, 1807.   But despite all their lies, misrepresentations, and false stories, they could not defeat us in the primaries ...  We are not going to let the fake news tell us what to do, how to live, or what to believe.  We are free and independent people and we will make our own choices.

David Klinghoffer offers a solution to the conundrum of fake reporting:

Since few of us have the resources to verify any of this with first-hand information, must it come down to a question of which side you trust least? ... what’s needed is some sort of independent metric for weighing the credibility of at least one side in the standoff over media truthfulness.

Is there such a thing as an unbiased slide-rule when it comes to mainstream journalism?  Klinghoffer himself fails to refer to the strong case for Young Earth Science (YES), even though he  mentions the young earth view.  Has he read my book?  YES -Young Earth Science contains over 450 footnotes and more than 130 charts, graphs and illustrations.  This work was dedicated to David B. Kitts (d. 2010) who wrote one of the few books dealing specifically with the Philosophy of Geology (The Structure of Geology).  Kitts studied with Theodosius Dobzhansky for a short time and later switched to Paleontology and was supervised by George Gaylord Simpson.
Of course, if this lovely world is youthful (thousands and not billions of years old), then evolution must go out the window.  The deification of Darwin must finally reach its just deserved final defenestration.
But who is wise enough to reject the established dogma of Darwinism?  Tom  Wolfe is a journalist and the author of The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, The Bonfire of the Vanities and The Right Stuff.  Who's afraid of the following radical declaration from Wolfe?

I came to the conclusion that Darwinism, the theory of evolution, is another myth. … And it’s no use saying that human beings evolved from animals, because they’re creatures with totally different powers.  If you have the power of speech, that’s also the power of memory ...  Well, I think a lot of people don’t agree with me, but the problem with evolution is, you have to wait six or seven million years.  It’s a little hard to recall.
Is an old earth and evolution fake news?  Time will tell.

According to Rob Tannenbaum, "Blake Griffin is one of the five or six best players in the NBA, and certainly the funniest ..."   Griffin's father is black  and his mother is white.  Griffin won the slam dunk contest as a rookie and has the special talent of jumping over cars.

In 2014, Griffin was interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine:
You were home-schooled until the seventh grade. Are you Team Creationism or Team Evolution?
"I was raised in a Christian household and went to a Christian high school, so I believe in creationisim, for sure."
So you think the Earth is only 6,000 years old?
"I don't want to do the math, but somewhere around there."
Homeschooling is great and we support the efforts of the new Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to promote school choice:

Let the education dollars follow each child, instead of forcing the child to follow the dollars. This is pretty straightforward. And it’s how you go from a closed system to an open system that encourages innovation. People deserve choices and options.

According to Neal McCluskey (Center for EducationalFreedom),

With federal money comes federal rules, and the point of charter schooling is to have innovative institutions unfettered by red tape and instead held accountable by parents choosing them.  The last thing we want is not just more red tape, but tape from a single dispenser: the federal government.
if you have not had a good laugh lately, don't pass up Blake Griffin's funny commercials!

Prepare for the ICE AGE

This is our private stockpile for the Ice Age.  Subarctic temperatures will force us underground for a billion, billion years. - Dodo (Ice Age)
Is another Ice Age coming?  I doubt it.  But what about the Ice Age of the distant past?  Young Earth Science (YES) holds that this planet is thousands of years old (not billions).  Many geo theorists claim that the multiple layers in ice cores in Greenland pose a problem for the YES idea of one Ice Age.  However, the layers are not always annual – many layers can occur in one year.  J. Southon writing in Quaternary Research freely admits, “… the GISP2 (Greenland Ice Sheet Project) ice contains many subannual structures which mimic annual bands …”  R. B. Alley et al. stated in the Journal of Geophysical Research, “… it is almost certain that variability exists at the subseasonal or storm level, at the annual level… We certainly must entertain the possibility of misidentifying the deposit of a large storm or a snow dune as an entire year…”  We propose that there were tremendous storms in the past partly due to extreme global volcanism (including the oceans) at the time of the global cataclysm that world legends testify too.

Mainstream science cannot explain the Ice Age and over 60 theories have been proposed.  J. K. Charlesworth explains that there are “… an absolute riot of theories ranging from the remotely possible to the mutually contradictory and the palpably inadequate.” [1]  After the worldwide catastrophe of a few thousand years ago volcanic ash cooled the earth; tremendous eruptions in the seas heated up the oceans. This combination of higher precipitation, caused by the hot seas, and cooler summers produced the Ice Age. This is the only model that successfully predicts huge ice sheets.
Big Science should take a hint from former aeronautical engineer and award winning SciFi author, James Hogan who said, “A comparatively young word [thousands not millions] – in the sense of the surface we observe today – is compatible with unguided Catastrophist theories…” [2] Hogan states that conventional dating, “was more a product of materialism’s fight with religion than an empirical construct … [it was] manufactured to provide the long time scales that Lyell and Darwin needed.” [3] Hogan maintains that, “Mountain uplifts and other formations show indications of being younger than conventional geology maintains.” [4] One example that Hogan presents that challenges standard dating uses thermoluminescence of lunar material which was dated at less than 10,000 years. [5] If the Moon is thousands of years old, then maybe the Earth is too!
The Ice Age is apparently referenced in the Walam Olum (Red Recordthe tribal chronicle of the Lenni Lenape or Delaware Indians. [6]

The Evolution of Evolution (Part 1)

In President Donald J. Trump's inaugural address he said this:

And whether a child is born in the urban sprawl of Detroit or the wind-swept plains of Nebraska, they look up at the same night sky, they will their heart with the same dreams, and they are infused with the breath of life by the same Almighty Creator. (1-20-17)

Is Evolution Wrong?

President-elect Donald Trump said he will be the “greatest jobs producer that God ever created” in a recent press conference (1-11-17).  Does the Donald Deny Darwin??  In a prior post we discussed how Pence views evolution.

If the earth is young, then Darwinism must be a distant memory.  How does radiometric dating work?  If certain fundamental constants of physics have varied, could this alter radiometric decay rates?  What about the sun?  Is this planet really 4.5 billion years old?  What is the significance of the human footprints discovered by Mary Leakey in Africa in 1976?  Does history, geology and biology support Young Earth Science (YES)?
